Refined Olive Oil for Wholesale Supply

Buyers developing a broader edible-oil procurement program can explore the TG-Trading B.V. product catalog. Origin, refining method, analytical specification, packaging, MOQ, documentation and availability may vary according to the current supply program and buyer requirements. Commercial buyers should request the current specification before confirming an order.

What Is Refined Olive Oil?

The Codex standard also distinguishes this category from extra virgin olive oil, virgin olive oil, blends of refined and virgin olive oils, and refined olive-pomace oil.

For an independent international technical reference, buyers can consult the Codex Alimentarius Standard for Olive Oils and Olive-Pomace Oils (CXS 33-1981).

This distinction matters in B2B procurement because the name on a commercial specification should accurately describe the oil being supplied.

Commercial Uses

The appropriate product should be matched to the intended process.

5 Proven Commercial Uses

1. Food Manufacturing

Processors should communicate the intended product, operating conditions and any analytical parameters important to their quality-control program.

2. Cooking and Culinary Applications

Commercial kitchens, restaurants, caterers and institutional food-service businesses may use the oil for suitable cooking and culinary applications.

The exact application should be based on the offered specification and the buyer’s own production requirements rather than assuming one oil grade fits every cooking process.

3. Sauces, Marinades and Prepared Foods

Processors should identify any requirements for colour, odour, flavour, fatty-acid composition or additives during procurement.

4. Bakery and Ingredient Processing

Food manufacturers may use this olive-derived oil in bakery products and ingredient formulations where a liquid vegetable oil is appropriate.

The buyer should specify the desired functional characteristics and finished-product requirements so that available supply can be evaluated correctly.

5. Bottling and Wholesale Distribution

Importers, bottlers and distributors can source the product for commercial packing and onward distribution where the product designation is permitted for the destination market.

Packaging, labelling, private-label requirements and commercial quantities should be confirmed during quotation rather than assumed.

Refined Olive Oil Specifications

Commercial Refined Olive Oil specifications can vary according to producer, origin, input oil and buyer requirements. Important procurement parameters may include:

• Free acidity
• Peroxide value
• Fatty-acid composition
• UV absorbency values
• Moisture and volatile matter
• Insoluble impurities
• Waxes
• Sterol composition
• Stigmastadiene content
• Appearance and colour
• Odour and taste requirements
• Packaging format
• Country of origin
• Labelling requirements
• Documentation requirements

Codex CXS 33-1981 sets the maximum free acidity for the refined category at 0.3 g per 100 g expressed as oleic acid.

Codex supplementary information lists moisture and volatile matter at no more than 0.1 g/100 g for the refined category and provides additional identity and composition parameters.

TG-Trading B.V. does not assume one analytical specification applies to every shipment.

Refined Olive Oil vs Extra Virgin Olive Oil

These are different commercial categories.

Extra virgin olive oil is obtained solely by mechanical or other physical means and must meet specific physicochemical and organoleptic criteria.

Extra virgin olive oil has a Codex maximum free acidity of 0.8 g per 100 g, while the refined category has a maximum of 0.3 g per 100 g.

Buyers seeking virgin olive-oil products should specify the required category clearly during procurement.

Refined Olive Oil vs Olive Oil Blends

Codex defines the latter as a blend of the refined product with extra virgin and/or virgin olive oil and sets its maximum free acidity at 1 g per 100 g.

Professional buyers should therefore state the exact category required.

Refined Olive Oil vs Refined Olive-Pomace Oil

The product should not be confused with refined olive-pomace oil.

Codex defines refined olive-pomace oil as oil obtained from crude olive-pomace oil through refining methods that do not alter the initial glyceridic structure.

Codex also makes clear that olive-pomace oil is a separate category and that olive-pomace blends cannot simply be designated as olive oil.

This distinction is important for importers, bottlers and food manufacturers because olive oil and olive-pomace oil have separate commercial definitions and labelling requirements.

Wholesale Refined Olive Oil Supply

TG-Trading B.V. supports B2B procurement for:

• Edible-oil importers
• Wholesale distributors
• Food manufacturers
• Bottlers and repackers
• Supermarket procurement teams
• Food-service companies
• Restaurants and caterers
• Bakery and prepared-food manufacturers
• Institutional buyers
• Commercial trading companies

For an accurate sourcing review, buyers should provide:

• Required quantity
• Destination country and port
• Required olive-oil category
• Technical specification
• Intended application
• Preferred origin, if applicable
• Packaging requirements
• Private-label requirements where applicable
• Documentation requirements

Providing complete procurement information allows available supply to be evaluated against the buyer’s actual commercial and technical needs.

Packaging and Bulk Orders

Packaging for the product may vary according to supplier, quantity, destination and buyer requirements.

Depending on the available supply program, retail, food-service and larger commercial packing formats may be possible.

Buyers requiring private labels, particular container materials, carton artwork, palletization or destination-language labelling should include these requirements in the RFQ.

International Sourcing and Distribution

TG-Trading B.V. coordinates international B2B sourcing and wholesale distribution of the product according to current availability and confirmed buyer requirements.

Commercial procurement considerations may include origin, refining specification, analytical limits, quantity, packaging, destination, shipping method, inspection requirements, documentation and commercial terms.

International buyers should communicate destination-specific food regulations, product-designation rules, labelling requirements, import documents and analytical limits before an order is finalized.

Storage and Handling

Edible olive oils should be stored and handled in conditions that protect them from contamination and quality deterioration.

Exact storage temperature, shelf life and handling instructions depend on the supplier, packaging and confirmed specification.

Bulk buyers should also confirm tank, loading, transfer and discharge requirements with the supplier and logistics provider.

Quality and Documentation

Professional buyers may require:

• Product specification
• Certificate of analysis where applicable
• Free-acidity information
• Peroxide-value information
• Fatty-acid profile
• UV absorbency results where required
• Country-of-origin documentation
• Packing details
• Labelling information
• Shipping documentation
• Inspection documents
• Regulatory documents where applicable
• Buyer-specific quality information

Codex specifies composition, quality, contaminant, hygiene, labelling and analytical requirements for olive oils covered by CXS 33-1981.

The applicable product designation and quality requirements should be confirmed for the destination market before retail or food-service distribution.

Any certification, laboratory parameter, contaminant limit, residue requirement or independent inspection requirement should be requested during the RFQ process and confirmed for the specific supply offered.

Why Source Through TG-Trading B.V.?
